Phthalate Free Shampoo

Phthalate Free Shampoo

Pthalates/phthalate esters are esters of phthalic acid. They are used in many different products, from glues to electronics. In fact, they are even used in the detergents that make up many of the shampoos on store shelves today. Unfortunately, because of health concerns, they are being used less and less in products.

Studies have shown that exposing high doses of pthtalates to rodents, caused hormone changes and birth defects. In humans, it has been known to cause endocrine production. This may be linked to changes in the reproductive system of newborn babies, or it may even be linked to obesity.

In rodent studies, large amounts of phthalates fed to rodents have damaged their liver and testes, though humans have been shown resistant to this. However, certain phthalates have been listed as possible carcinogens. Allergies in children have also been linked to certain phthalates. And the list goes on.

So, studies show possible correlations between phthalate intake and many ill reactions. It'd be best to stay away from something that may cause such adverse affects. Though health of your hair is not as important as overall health of your body, it should be noted that if your general health is being compromised by something, then in turn, your the health of your hair will be compromised as well.

Organic shampoo and conditioner are free of such synthetic materials as these. Just another reason to go organic.
